Case 4- Healing Hands
I would like to take this opportunity to
thank Dr. Burt for his outstanding
chiropractic care.
Years of computer work, related stress,
repetitive strain, and poor posture began to
catch up with me. I was spending an average
of 10-12 hours per day on a computer and was
in constant nagging pain in my neck and
shoulder region. Gradually my neck and
shoulders had reached a stage where it was
interfering with my work and daily routine
and one day I couldn't hold the sharp pain
in my neck and shoulders -- pain come
bursting out through tears. Normal movements
became quite difficult and I was unable to
do simple tasks like brushing my teeth,
combing my hair and putting on my clothes
without help. My fingers and my right hand
would go numb due to a pinched nerve. I
experienced a muscle weakness in my right
wrist and hand.
My medical doctor prescribed me pills --
painkillers - and offered epidural
injections. The injections did help for
about a month and then the pain came back.
The doctor suggested a surgery. That is when
I found chiropractic medicine. My friends
told me that the "secret" to pain-free
living without drugs or surgery for hundreds
of thousands of people is chiropractic
treatment.
I came to Dr. Burt's chiropractic office
several months ago. Prior to Dr. Burt, I had
gone to another chiropractor but the result
was not very noticeable. I did not have a
lot of hope that this treatment would help
either. I was preparing to live with my pain
for the rest of my life; but Dr. Burt
returned hope and optimism to me.
After a couple of months of treatment I
noticed incredible changes in my body, mind,
and spirit. I started feeling that my neck
and shoulder conditions improved. My
attitude changed definitely for the better,
because the pain was less. I had also
noticed that my energy levels had
dramatically improved. I was able to start
physical therapy, I was not stressed out so
much anymore and started laughing again much
more often. I was able to sleep better and
became much more peaceful overall.
I think one of the most
important things in my doctor/patient
relationship with Dr. Burt has been the
moral positive support. I knew I could rely
on his decisions and I completely trusted
his judgment.
To decrease my pain level
and improve the quality of my life with a
drug-free solution, Dr. Burt prescribed me
an H-Wave instrument to use at home. This
gave me the opportunity stay away from the
pills-pain killers. Instead, he suggested
some vitamins to make my immune system
better and some dietary supplements, which
promote healthy joints and muscles. Dr Burt
also showed me some exercises, which made me
stronger. He gave me stress management tapes
to reduce my stress. But the most important
part of the treatment has been the
commitment, enthusiasm and devotion to his
work, careful treatment planning, and
dedication to patient wellness. I want to
thank Dr. Burt for his smile and bright,
cheerful personality.
Dr Burt's office is one
of the best facilities. Everything is
located in one place: chiropractor,
acupuncture, neurologist, physical therapist
(gym provided for the patient's
convenience), and several types of pain
management and heat procedures.
The treatment continued
and my pain level dropped from the time Dr.
Burt started this treatment on a scale of 0
to 10 (ten is the worst pain possible) from
8 to 4! People who felt this kind of pain
could understand what it means to drop these
numbers even a little, but to drop half of
it is amazing progress. But the improvement
reached the certain level and stopped. I
still had some discomfort in my neck and
some pain in the arm area. Even though the
progress was amazing, the Doctor was not
satisfied with it. A new method of treatment
was suggested me by Dr. Burt: Manipulation
Under Anesthesia (M.U.A).
M.U.A of the spine is the practice of the
non-operative restoration of the function of
bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and
ligaments while the patient is under
anesthesia. The decision was made and date
for the procedure was set. Again, Dr. Burt
provided me with positive support and
optimism.
After the MUA, I was able
to move my neck and spine in ways I didn't
realize I could before. I now feel as though
a huge knot has been untied and my body
wants to stretch and breathe as never
before. My spine is straighter and more
flexible. What is equally interesting is
that I feel an improved brain function -
speed and clarity. I am so much less afraid
of facing life, of truly being alive.
Answers come more easily. I was able to
remember again the beauty available by my
old body's movement. I can almost see my
mind and body functioning clearly; it wants
to move in its elegant and natural ways
again.
My plan is to keep
chiropractic a permanent part of my life!
"PREVENTION IS KEY"!
There are not enough words to express my
thanks and gratitude for the healing hands
of my chiropractor.
